  • 8th Annual PEMS Conference Showcases Partnership Between CE-CERT and AVL
    (April 25, 2018) In March 2018, CE-CERT hosted its 8th Annual Portable Emissions Measurement Systems (PEMS) International Conference and Workshop, an event that has seen a significant increase in both attendance and in its acknowledgement as an important contributor to the industry's body of knowledge since its inception in 2010. The PEMS Conference sponsor AVL Test Systems, Inc. was honored at an evening reception on the first day of the conference, highlighting their $1 million donation of emissions test instrumentation and software in support of modernizing CE-CERT's light-duty testing facility.

  • Robotics for Renewables: UCR Students Engineer Solar Panel Cleaning Robots
    (March 15, 2018) On Friday, March 9th, 2018, 12 of UC Riverside's Electrical and Computer Engineering students applied their engineering and robotics skills to one of the real-world problems associated with the use of solar panels: the removal of the dirt and debris that inhibit panel performance.

  • California Air Resources Board Southern California Headquarters Ground Breaking Event
    (November 27, 2017) After a 2016 vote to relocate its motor vehicle and engine emissions testing and research facility from El Monte to Riverside, the California Air Resources Board broke ground on its new property on October 27, 2017. The $419 million Southern California headquarters will be located on a 19-acre site on Iowa Avenue near Martin Luther King Boulevard, adjacent to the UCR campus, and is projected to bring with it approximately 400 jobs.
  • Dr. Charles Cai Receives Outstanding Young Alumnus Award
    (November 1, 2017) Dr. Charles Cai was honored with the 2017 Outstanding Young Alumnus Award by the UCR Alumni Association. This award is presented to alumni aged 35 or younger who have demonstrated exceptional career and/or civic achievement, and who show great professional promise.
  • CE-CERT Partners with Bourns to Host Another Successful STEP Conference
    (October 27, 2017) The annual STEP conference is intended to promote interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) field careers for students, and features activities targeted to teachers, high school and middle school students. 250 high school students visited six of CE-CERT's laboratories for hands-on activities, demonstrations, and technology discussions with CE-CERT's graduate students.
  • CE-CERT Awards Two UCCONNECT Fellowships
    (October 27, 2017) The UCCONNECT fellowship awards are intended to fund students whose research supports the promotion of economic competitiveness through the enhancement of transport for California. This year, two fellowships in the amount of $25,000 each were awarded to students Kieu Nguyen and Benjamin Miller.
  • CE-CERT Director Appointed to California Energy Commission Advisory Committee
    (October 26, 2017) CE-CERT Director Dr. Matthew Barth was recently appointed to the California Energy Commission's advisory committee for the Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program (ARFVTP).
  • CE-CERT Hosts the Inland Empire's Only National Drive Electric Week Event
    (October 26, 2017) On Sunday, September 10, 2017, CE-CERT hosted a Ride and Drive event as a part of the 2017 National Drive Electric Week. The event feature electric vehicles, information booths, games, and food.
  • CE-CERT Researchers Partner with the California Air Resources Board for Off-Road Diesel Equipment Data Collection
    (October 26, 2017) Researchers from the Emissions and Fuels team are working with the California Air Resources Board to better understand the impact of emissions from construction and agricultural equipment on air quality.

    (August 30, 2017) The UC Riverside Facilities Department has teamed up with the Office of Research and Economic Development and academic sustainability faculty to collect information on the electricity usage of various buildings throughout the UCR campus.
  • CE-CERT's Transportation Systems Research Group Well Represented at the 2017 IEEE Intelligent Vehicle Symposium
    (July 12, 2017) CE-CERT's Transportation Systems Research group presented their latest research and networked with 500 of their peers at the 2017 IEEE Intelligent Vehicle Symposium.
